GOALS FOR WEEK 2
By the end of this week, you will:

1. Continue to work on sentence structure, transition words, and avoiding the three types of sentence errors.
2. Learn about adverbial clauses of condition with only if, unless, and even if.
3. Learn and practice 5 techniques to paraphrase and avoid plagiarizing.
   
4. Discuss how to make claims and use quotes effectively in short answer questions.
   
5. Learn academic vocabulary through our novel and textbooks.
6. Continue to work on cause-effect essays and have a peer review before completing the final draft.

MONDAY
Memorial Day--No classes

HOMEWORK
-Work on Journal 2 for Friday (pick an article from Upfront and write a  summary/response to it, just like last week).
-Complete Animal Farm Homework 1 for tomorrow.

TUESDAY
-Warm-up
-GD Workbook, p. 99
-Review of cause-effect connectors (SEW pp. 7-8)
-Book club: Discuss Animal Farm Homework 1
-LAW pp. 75-76
-Work on cause-effect essay

-Complete first draft of your cause-effect essay and bring a PRINTED copy to class tomorrow
