GOALS FOR WEEK 3
By the end of this week, you will:
  1. Distinguish between facts and opinions.
  2. Discuss how to incorporate multiple sources in writing.
  3. Continue to learn about adverbial clauses of condition with unless, even if, and only if.
  4. Review identifying and non-identifying subject and object adjective clauses.
  5. Review APA citation basics.
  6. Learn academic vocabulary through our novel and textbooks.
  7. Develop a problem-solution essay.
MONDAY
-Warm-up
-Grammar Dimensions, Chapter 15
-Review Reading Chapter 1 quiz
-Discuss Animal Farm homework 2

-Facts vs. opinions (SEW, pp. 54-57)
-Develop problem-solution essay

HOMEWORK
-Peer review essay draft due Thursday

-Work on Journal 3 for Friday (pick an article from Upfront and write a  summary/ response to it).
-Begin reading Animal Farm pp. 73-109 and complete Homework 3 for Monday.
 TUESDAY
-Warm-up
-Grammar Dimensions, Chapter 15
-LAR Chapter 2, Reading 1

-Discuss synthesizing material from sources, LAW, pp. 122-123
-Develop problem-solution essay

HOMEWORK
-Study for quiz and do Grammar Workbook exercises in Chapter 15: Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3, Ex 5, Ex 6, and Ex 7 (on pp. 130-135)
​-Peer review essay draft due Thursday
-Work on Journal 3 for Friday.
-Begin reading Animal Farm pp. 73-109 and complete Homework 3 for Monday.

-Introduce persuasive essays (Great Writing 4, pp. 116-118)


HOMEWORK
-Pick a topic for your persuasive essay by Monday.
-Complete the crossword puzzle and study the vocabulary in Chapter 2 (p. 59) of Longman Academic Reading to prepare for a quiz on Tuesday.
-Complete reading Animal Farm pp. 73-109 and complete Homework 3 for Monday, as well as your reading circle job.
